You finally got your new set of dentures, and you're excited to use it. But you realize its not feeling like your old ones... And you wonder "why?"
LETS TALK ABOUT IT.
Ask yourself, why did you want a new set of dentures to replace your old set of dentures? Was it because it was lose? Or was it just old, smelly, and not appealing to look at? Well understand this, your mouth is always accustomed to the old feeling of your old dentures. Your body has a way of feeling accustomed to old feelings, and your oral cavity has a memory of old sensations.
When you receive your new dentures, the first hour and the next few months will be a period of getting use to your new dentures. Your new dentures will create pressure in your oral cavity that you've never felt before, compared to your old dentures. Why? Well its because its a new denture! A new denture will create different sensation compared to your old dentures. Every new dentures needs time for adaption and allowing your body to get use to it.
With new dentures, its important to give time for your oral cavity to learn the new sensations. At the same time, it will also be a learning period how to speak with your new dentures, and also use them to eat . Allow your body and mind to practice with them. Remember, these are not your real teeth anymore. But with time, and practice, you should be fine.
